Classroom of the Elite Vol 18: ch 1 Part 1

In the classroom after school that day.

The main members of the group gathered. They were Satō, Matsushita, Miichan, and Maezono. The only thing they had in common was that they were the planners of the maid café. Then there were me and Horikita, for a total of six. After the first presentation, we had been meeting mainly via cell phone to prevent information leaks but now that we had reached the stage of deciding on the layout and location, we needed to have a detailed meeting at the special building we planned to rent. The concept and scale of the maid café meant that the outdoors had to be erased at the start.

In other words, the concept of a classroom venue had been fixed from the beginning, but the location of the stall was still in doubt. Students from other grades and classes come to check out the potential locations on a daily basis.

Therefore, Yosuke is trying to find the best place to open a stall so that he does not get squeezed out. If it were true, it would be more effective to include boys such as Yosuke in the group, but unfortunately, they are busy with club activities at this time of the day. As soon as we started sat, Matsushita looked at Horikita and me and asked.

"What are you going to do about Hasebe-san and Miyake-kun?"

"What do you mean by what to do?"

“they comes to school every day, but they won't talk to anyone. That means they continues to see us as the enemy.”

"I guess it would be mainly against me."

Having her best friend Airi expelled from school, Haruka built a big wall. Although she is now coming back to school, she has not removed that wall.

"I think Hasebe-san is going to try to get revenge on the class in the future."

I don't think Haruka called her out directly, nor was she asked. But if you look at Haruka now and sense that atmosphere, a person like Matsushita would guess.

"That might be true. But it's also true that we haven't seen any problematic behavior so far. She has been participating in the meetings for the festival."

Haruka knows about the maid café because she proposed it at an early stage. There is no reason not to include her in the group.

"Does that mean you tolerate revenge?"

"No, of course not. I understand why she would be upset, but that doesn't mean it's okay for her to bother the class without question."

Disturbance without extenuating circumstances, such as unavoidable special examinations, is treated as a totally bad thing. Horikita would also strongly hope that Haruka would not act violently.

“Yes, But it's not a situation where that kind of logic is going to work. It shouldn't take that long."

Matsushita repeatedly directed her gaze at me. She was trying to get a word out of me while keeping the leader, Horikita, on her toes. However, I will not give my own opinion at this point.

It is clear that Haruka is plotting revenge, but right now she is attending school, taking tests normally, and not doing a single thing to cause trouble in class.

Even if we don't know what will happen next, we can't question her at this stage.

"There is little you can do in advance. Telling people to stop taking revenge will only get on their nerves. Just go to ......"

"If she's really looking for her chance to get revenge, I'm sure she won't put it off for months."

I agree with that opinion.

It is hard to believe that Miyake will remain quiet in school for the next six months or even a year. In other words, the most important time to be on the lookout for her is at the school festival.

"I can't deny the possibility of her doing something at the school festival."

Matsushita, who must have wanted to hear those words, quietly nodded.

“Ayanokouji-kun replied that Hasebe-san had no intention of working as a maid. So we gave her and Miyake a general role while making them aware of the situation. If we were to hide information from them or exclude them from the group, it would blatantly tell them that we suspect her."

If Horikita and the others do anything to disparage Haruka's side, even though they have no intention of taking revenge, it is possible that the spark that extinguished the fire will start smoldering again.

" Remain on the line to be an ally, but avoid giving him an important role."

"Yes. I thought I should do that just in case."

Of course, the idea of a riot at a festival is not something that you would have any strong concerns about. Still, as a leader, it's important to take the initiative.

At the school festival, there will be many guests. If the Horikita class gets a bad reputation among the guests, it would not be surprising if they are penalized in some way.

"I'm sure you're worried about Haruka and the others, but we'll get there soon."

Matsushita was so engrossed in the conversation that she did not realize that she was getting close to the destination, and now many of the classes were still wondering where to set up their stalls. You never know where your careless remarks will be picked up.

There are a total of eight classrooms in the three-story special building where stalls can be set up. We are currently on the third floor, and the closer we are to the entrance stairway, the more the cost will gradually increase.

The third floor is the furthest from the main gate of the building, which has the advantage of being the most cost-effective place to set up an indoor store. The third floor rents for 10,000 to 13,000 points, while the first floor rents for 50,000 points, a difference of nearly 40,000 points that can be used to purchase food and other items. The points given to the class are finite. The class has a finite number of points, and it is inevitable that they will have to worry about how much to spend on the location of their stalls.

"It's much farther than I thought it would be.."

Mi-chan's first thought was also about the distance.

I think all of us would agree with that.

"What do you think, Sato-san?"

"Sato-san?"

Mi-chan asked Sato, who had not spoken so far today, but she did not get an immediate response.

She asked again, this time from a closer distance, and Sato answered hurriedly.

"Oh, um. I thought it was a little too far for me too....Yeah, I thought."

"I don't think everyone will come to this place unless it's a pretty good event."

We did not stay long on the third floor, which is a lower priority, perhaps because the opinions are generally the same.

After that, we all went downstairs to the second floor.

"After all, the 2nd floor is better than the 3rd floor, isn't it? The 1st floor is ideal," Maezono murmured while looking out the window.

“I guess so. But ------ the first floor must be quite difficult in terms of price, after all.”

Mi-chan stares at her cell phone and makes a difficult face.

"But we have to make a decision soon. It's getting pretty full."

She says so while peering into Mii-chan's phone.

"That's right. Two of the five spots already picked... However, the fact that there are still candidates from the first floor to the third floor is what I'm worried about."

Should we take the convenience and pay the high points, or abandon the convenience and pay the low points?

"I think it should be on the first floor. It is a disadvantage if the other events are in the way and we can't get people to go up to the second floor."

"I think it doesn't really matter if it's on the second or third floor, as long as it makes people want to come."

Maezono, Mi-chan, and Matsushita have an argument.

Although her friends occasionally look at her as if they are concerned about her, it seems as if she is not in the present.

"Sato-san have been acting like that lately?"

Matsushita noticed that I was concerned about her and gently whispered in my ear.

"Come to think of it, she may not be feeling particularly well these past few days."

“I thought Ayanokouji-kun knew something, but it seems I was wrong.”

I wonder if Matsushita is mistaking me for an esper or something.

Or maybe it was a remark in anticipation of Megumi getting close to Sato, but in any case, I don't have detailed information.

"What do you mean?"

"......maybe"

"She didn't seem to be in bad shape, and I asked her if she had any problems, but she didn't say anything definite.”

"Sometimes people just want to be left alone, don't they?

“I think so. I don't think that's the case this time.”

Matsushita, who is holding back, continues to keep the conversation going,, perhaps because something comes to mind.

“I want to talk, but I can’t. She' is the type of person who keeps things she doesn't like bottled up inside.”

After a year and a half of friendship, it's amazing how much she can tell.

"It's not like she keeping it inside and that's the end of it, right?"

"Well・・・ she generally consult with me about that."

“If that's the case, I guess we'll have to wait and see. If Matsushita is right, she will ask for advice in the near future, right?”

Matsushita was not satisfied with the situation, but since she could not have such a long conversation near Sato, she quietly backed off.
