The genius prince : vol 7 ch 25
Then Demetrio took a deep breath " there's been a massive uprising in my and my faction's territory-!
"whaaaaaaaaat ? ”
…………………
"Then let's agree on these terms."
"Yes, of course."
The Imperial Palace of the Earthwald Empire.
In one of the rooms, two people were facing each other across a desk. One was Imperial Princess Lowellmina, The
other, Prince Manfred.
"I was not expecting this, by the way. I didn’t think if you've would use this strategy” Lowellmina said.
She had heard about the rebellion in the territory claimed by Demetrio
and his faction. There were reports of looting and violence, and there were
no signs of it stopping anytime soon.
Dimetrio had gathered as many troops as he could for the decisive battle. That included personnel tasked with maintaining public
order and safeguarding the domain. Without them stationed, the domain hadbecome temporarily lawless.
Then Manfred lit a fire.
Originally, Demetrio was not a person with a good reputation. There was a spark of discontent among the people.
However, if Demetrio had won the decisive battle, the people would have hesitated.
But it was a historic defeat. Setting those embers ablaze was a simple enough task.
(However, Manfred did all this too fast for it to be a last-minute idea. He must have been preparing it for a long time and used it on this occasion.)
Lowellmina looked from Manfred to Strang, who was standing nearby.
"You are the one who planned it, Strang. I didn't expect you to use off-the-board tactics.”
He was Manfred’s subordinate first, Lowellmina’s friend second. He kept his mouth shut.
"I'm not sure what you're talking about, but it's called a bad guess, lowellmina.” Manfred replied, speaking in his stead
"Our older brother got what he deserved. If Demetrio had managed his territory, none of this would have happened. I never imagined his people were so unhappy with him that they would be purred to rebellion.”
"I see. I beg your pardon. I am sure it was because of brother Demetrio's politics. It just so happened that it happened at a time that benefited brother Manfred.."
"Hmm, maybe the heavens want me to take the throne.”
Manfred smiled without any sense of apology. lowellmina said, as if to put a damper on such composure.
"But Demetrio's brother, he may say that he will leave the territory alone for now, that he will be able to do whatever he wants when he becomes emperor.”
"It's not a problem.I have already obtained the chancellor's assurance.”
"-------- " Lowellmina’s eyes darted
Now that the emperor is dead, he is the backbone of the empire.
It is said that his ability is the reason why the country is still intact even though the princes have been fighting for the throne for several years.
"If Demetrio does nothing, he will mobilize the imperial army to suppress the rebellion, and he will be the first to take action to stop the rebellion.
He even said he was considering stripping them of their land and territory.”
Although it is easy to assume that the Imperial soldiers belong to Prince Baldrosh's faction, in fact, not all of them are working together with him. In fact, they probably make up less than one-third of the total
Many of the generals consider themselves the emperor's soldiers, not the private armies of the princes, and are neutral in the conflict, serving in defense or other duties. They number in the tens of thousands and are ready to move at a moment's notice in the event of an emergency in the empire.
"......I’m surprised. I suppose even the prime minister can’t let the
Empire burn to the ground, though he’s let all of you fool around untilnow”
"Fooling around, you say." Manfred smiled pleasantly and then said, "Speaking of surprises, lowellmina. I was also surprised at this deal. I was surprised that you would provide supplies to my army." Manfred had gathered his army near the imperial capital of Granslar.
The defeat of Demetrio's army had prompted preparations to temporarily disband the army, but the sudden change of policy by the Baldrosh army made it necessary to make preparations for a decisive battle.
The problem then became people and supplies.
