The genius prince : vol 7 ch 26

Manfred mobilized all of his contacts to gather people, but he was unable to gather supplies.

This is when lowellmina approached him.

"The first brother was driven by his own greed to use force, and the second brother was driven by his own ambition to stop him. Neither has the makings of an Emperor. So I shall aid you, Manfred"

With such an argument, lowellmina generously provided Manfred's camp with supplies collected by persuading the members of the patriot faction.

For Manfred, this was a dream come true. That is why he took time out of his busy schedule to come to the capital.

But of course, Manfred is not so naive as to take lowellmina’s assertions at face value.

"What in the world do you want, Lowellmina?”

"Of course, it is the prosperity and peace of the empire. ”

"Then wouldn't it be quicker for you to leave everything to me and just watch us fool around, as you call it?" Manfred retorted

She might have been his little sister, but their relationship was purely
by blood. He never once thought of her as his adorable sister. The feeling
was mutual: Lowellmina didn’t love or respect him as her big brother.

It is not that they are particularly heartless. Royalty is a family that will eventually have its own territory and position, and they are destined to conspire against each other in order to protect it.

If they are old enough to see things clearly, they will be able to see things from the perspective of their political rivals. The "Kings and Queens" were not the only ones who had a special cold shoulder.

"In the meantime, I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude for your kindness and support. And so I was promptly defeated.

The sooner I am defeated and Baldrosh ascends to the throne, the sooner peace will come to the Empire.

Isn't that the natural position for you to be in?"

"............"

"Your way could be seen as daring to balance the scales between me and Baldrosh. That's exactly what I'm trying to do, to cause us to fall together."

Having said that, Manfred stared at Lowellmina. Lowellmina smiled and tilted her head in annoyance. She was puzzled by Manfred's denunciation. She looked like that. Manfred is convinced that this is an act.

"What's in it for me? It will only reduce the power of the Empire by prolonging the war between the Imperialists. There would be no benefit.

"There will be a benefit to you and you alone from our falling together.”

"I can’t imagine what that could possibly be."

"No idea Empress." Manfred said, cutting in. "With the three of us gone, the other Imperial princess should technically
rise to the throne, but she’s out of the royal family. That means you would
rise to the throne."

"Oh."Lowellmina chuckled. "I'm sure you're not the only one. This is the nature of a man who wants to become emperor. I have no such ambition.”

"Are you asserting that you have no such ambitions?”

"Of course not. I am only concerned about the future of the empire. “

Manfred and lowellmina stared at each other for a few seconds.

Then Manfred chuckled. "As long as you know your place, we have no issues. Besides, you wouldn’t have enough support even if you wanted to become Empress. You would just incite more chaos."

"Yes, I suppose you're right.”

Manfred stood up. "Well, I'd better get back. It's been a good discussion, lowellmina.”

"I pray for your continued health."

"Huh, that's not what You meant. Let's go, Strang."

Manfred walked out of the room with Strang.
